As a teenager. Forest Burns learned how to create sparks between his fingers. In his late twenties, Forest is discovered by a college professor who also happens to be a lightning mage. As the Professor teaches Forest to master his untapped power, the two of them take on a conclave of fire mages, fight to protect their city, their college, and their homes.
   
 
Forest thought the past horrors would remain in the past. He was wrong. Children on an Arizona Reservation have gone missing. People have been killed by fire. Professor Mackelroy sends Forest and his team to investigate and find the enclave guilty of these crimes against the innocent. Forest and his team find that evil has returned.
 
 
Krag Marston. Ex-Federacy fighter Pilot. Current high-value transporter. Keiko Suzume. Daughter of an interplanetary ambassador and a cat burglar. Together, they find themselves stealing valuable artifacts, hiding from the Federacy and trying to survive as aliens invade Humanity's worlds.
 
 
Humanity is fighting for its very existence as the Mortek slaughter and enslave planet after planet. Meanwhile, the crew of the Griffin struggle to get the help they need for getting home and possibly changing the course of the war.
 
 
The Federacy fleet is smashed. The last bastions of Humanity are pushed to the corners of their known galaxy and fighting for their very survival against the invading Mortek Hordes. Meanwhile, Krag and his crew manning the Human-Elonian-Ballisonian hybrid ship, Griffin, are jumping into this lost war, endeavoring to turn defeat into victory.
 
 
Krag and Keiko use all of their skills to not become lab rats for the Elonian scientists while the Elonian military wants to seize the Griffin and strip it for its technology. After the Morteks enslave the planet Sasania, Vice-Admiral Weiskoff leads his small fleet into a hopeless battle to stop the spread of this alien invasion.
 
 
The Mortek have continued to carry out their campaign of enslavement and death across the Federacy while Humankind fights desperately to survive.
Meanwhile, Griffin's beings work diligently to get her ready for the flight back to Federacy space and the coming battles.
 
 
Enraged at being denied their victory, the Mortek expand their efforts to build an invincible armada of war ships. Against this growing threat, how do Krag and Keiko continue to fight for the survival of Humanity? How do they rally less than twenty human ships into defeating a thousand-Strong Mortek fleet?
